It's all about people

Leaders tend to be fixated with numbers and performance. Yet, unless the stat is mindblowing, it won't capture an audience. People engage audiences. We want to know the stories behind the products and programs.

Tripling earned media at two places - here's how

Brian tripled earned media with one of SC's oldest healthcare systems and at Charleston's United Way chapter by knowing audience needs and delivering pre-packaged, dynamic content directly to the media. Relevant and timely information with a simple message and unique visuals or catchy infographics produces results! Put another way: tell me something I didn't know!

Success at Seattle-Tacoma Int'l Airport & Boeing

Brian's five years in Seattle drove business results and attracted national media attention at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Boeing.

Proactive communication at Sea-Tac Airport attracts media attention

If a government agency is doing a good job, why not tell people about it?

Brian led customer service communications to highlight improvements which gained attention from numerous Seattle and national media, USA TodayQ13 FOX and KUOW radio, among others.

He also planned and moderated several webcasts and in-person corporate events. Brian created webcast standards using TV principles of prep, presentation and production values.

What's even more special, I grew up watching him play for my favorite team, the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. One of my all time favorite stories, even after a dozen years in TV news! Great guy to meet in person and as you'll see from the video, a true pro.

Thanks to American Airlines for making the story happen!  For the record, I miss the shiny silver livery on American planes, the dull grey isn't nearly as great. (they had to do that because of the 787 which is not aluminum)

A dozen years in TV news – majority in a top-25 market

Writing and storytelling is the basis of my career. In grade school, I hated multiple choice tests but loved writing assignments.

Below is a link to some of my favorite TV news stories. (Yes, we write our own stories) My best memory, covering the 2006 Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup win, including live reports in Edmonton, Alberta. A close second is covering Hurricane Katrina aftermath in New Orleans and Mississippi.

Spotlight on photography

The police-involved killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis happened four blocks away from my late-grandmother's house - a neighborhood I know well.

Outrage spilled into Charleston, SC, on Sunday morning, May 31, hooligans trashed the popular dining area on North King Street.

I also captured images of my shattered and damaged hometown of Minneapolis just two weeks after the incident.
